Sun Kissed

Yesterday afternoon we went to the pool. Well, I did remember the sunscreen....but I did forget to put it on Thi's face. He has a pink nose and some rosy cheeks today. He doesn't seem to mind it so much though. He said this morning...Look, Mom, my face is red!

Success

Both times we have gone to the O'Fallon pool Matthias has been scared of this mushroom waterfall. Today he overcame that fear and played under the mushroom. He was SO proud of himself.

Spider

Charley and Thi ran around the house today with the laundry basket on their heads. They would say, "the spider's coming!"

R & R

Charley was relaxing this afternoon with her smoothie. She had Dorito's all over her face, but she didn't care.

Picture Day

Today was picture day at T-ball! Matthias was so funny. He smiled like this in every picture they took....squinty eyes and big ol' smile. I happen to LOVE it! I can't wait to get them back and put them up somewhere in the house!

Sandy

This afternoon we went to the park. It has been pretty nice out the past couple of days. I even had the windows open for most of the day...until we left for the park and I didn't want to leave them open while we were gone. Anyways...the kids decided that it would be a good idea to play in the sand at the park. Mommy was not a fan. Thi liked throwing it in the air. Needless to say they went into the bath when we got home.

My Boys

I love my boys! They really are best friends and I love that too. Today I found them sitting in the chair together watching TV. I just think they are the cutest.

Walk Like an Egyptian

Jonathan's Aunt Barbara recently took a trip to Egypt. She went to a few different cities/villages. During one stop she purchased these hats for the boys. They like wearing them around the house. I try to explain where they are from, but they are still a little young to understand geography...go figure.

Doughnut Face

I stopped at the store to grab some doughnuts for the kids this morning. I really need to go grocery shopping. Anyways....this is what Charley's little face looked like when we got home.

Rough Day

This morning I woke up and had a horrible headache...possibly a migraine. Once I got out of bed I started feeling nauseous and my back was hurting (and no, I'm not pregnant). I ended up having to call Jonathan to come home. I took a 4 hour nap and woke up feeling better. I haven't been sleeping very well at all....pretty much not at all some nights, so I'm wondering if my exhaustion had something to do with not feeling well. Anyways, I got up and we all headed out to the backyard and ended up having a great afternoon. I even filled the pool up for the kids.

Father's Day

We spent the day in Springfield. Jon got treated to breakfast and lunch. We had a great time hanging out with Jonathan's family and enjoying a beautiful afternoon outside. Unfortunately, I didn't get many good pictures with Jonathan in them....oops. I think we all are wiped out. I'm am certainly ready for bed.

Celebrate

Today we celebrated Charley's birthday with Jon's family. Jon's Aunt Barbara is in town from D.C., so it was extra special to have her with us. Charley made out pretty good. She got a princess baby and stroller, a Dora doll, some books, and some super cute clothes. She was pretty excited about Dora as you can see. I even found the most perfect cupcake cake at Wal-Mart....it was a big pink 2. I was so super excited when I found it. It was like it was just waiting for us to pick it up! Anyways, it's been a great day. We are looking forward to more family time tomorrow.

Stubborn

Have I mentioned that Justus is stubborn. Well...he is. I was trying to take some pictures today...and he didn't want to cooperate. He had his mind made up. I finally did get him to laugh though and got a good one...so jokes on him.

You Say It's Your Birthday

Today is Charley's 2nd birthday! I really can't believe she is two! We didn't do too much since she had a party on Saturday and we will be celebrating with Jon's family this weekend. We did go to the pool with some friends though. Charley had a chicken nugget and got to go swimming...I think she would say the day was a success.

A Little Goes a Long Way

Today was my final day without Jonathan. I have been pretty worn out. Today I let the kids split an orange soda....it was peaceful while they drank it. I was very thankful for that moment of silence.

Sun Baked

Sometimes I forget that Thi is a redhead, and has fair skin. He burns pretty easily...especially in comparison to the rest of our family. I guess I need to get some stronger sunblock for him.

Homeward Bound

Since Jonathan is out of town I thought today was a good day to head home to Mt. Vernon. My mom has a short day at work, and it was a beautiful day. I got to see one of my oldest friends and then we stopped by the pool to see my mom and to let the kids take a dip in the kiddie pool. The kids had a lot of fun swimming and when we were done we went to my parents house and relaxed for a bit. Justus got to play with my brother's old legos, which Justus loved. The great thing is they were worn out and all went to bed pretty easily.

Long Days Ahead

This morning we loaded up the car and headed to the airport to drop Jonathan off. He headed to Philadelphia for a business conference. He will be gone until Wednesday night. I really miss him when he is gone. I don't sleep as well and days become much longer. It's always nice to decompress when he gets home and also to have a little help with the kids. I'm definitely already looking forward to his return.

We All Scream for Ice Cream!

Today was Charley's ice cream party. It was a lot of fun. I had fun planning it...and I think the kids enjoyed eating all the ice cream and goodies that I prepared. We had all sorts of toppings, cake, cake bites, soda in glass bottles for floats and fun straws. I bought some balloons also, but it was kind of breezy, so they turned out to not be such a good idea.

Bake-a-thon

Today was spent baking/cleaning/preparing for Charley's party tomorrow. I'm pretty excited about it. I have had a lot of fun planning the party. I'm hoping it's as cute in reality as it is in my mind.

Quiet Time

So today I decided to let Justus play on the computer. I don't usually allow it, but it was actually really nice. He played a lot of puzzle games and I got to put laundry away in peace. It was a win/win.

Wrestlemania

I guess the boys are at that age where they have discovered wrestling. I catch them wrestling all the time. I really don't get it...I guess it's a boy thing.

French Toast

Today I did something I've never done....I made food in bulk. I made French toast. I'm really glad I did...I really am not a morning person and getting up to make breakfast is not that appealing to me. I usually buy frozen waffles, granola bars, or frozen french toast sticks, but I decided making breakfast food in bulk and storing it in the fridge or freezer would probably be a much cheaper route.

Preview

I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am for Charley's birthday party on Saturday. This is the first birthday party we have thrown, so I'm a little nervous that no one is going to show up. It didn't stop me from going to get all the ice cream toppings today though.

The Rules

So a lot of nights before bedtime Jonathan gives the kids a choice....they can either play in Justus' or Matthias and Charley's room, or they can go to bed. They always pick play. Jon then goes over the rules, which consist of no crying, no yelling for Mommy or Daddy, and no coming out of the room. They usually do pretty good, and it seems to be a good system for everyone involved...the kids get to stay up and play and Jon and I get a little quiet time.

Mighty Ball Baseball

Today was the first day for the boys Mighty Ball Baseball league. It was a lot of fun....although very hot. I stayed with Matthias and Jonathan stayed with Justus. They both did well. I think Justus had a rough time, but stuck it out. Matthias loved it...although you couldn't tell while he was actually playing.

Daddy Date

This morning before work Jonathan took Charley on Daddy/Daughter Date to Steak n Shake for pancakes. She came home wearing this hat.

Home School

Since school is out for the summer I've decided to work each weekday with Justus on letters, cutting, shapes, speech, etc. Today we worked on cutting and the letters "A" and "S". I'm hoping this will help him be more prepared for school in the fall. His speech therapist sent us some quick and easy tasks/questions to work on him with, so we are doing those as well. Justus seems to enjoy it, so hopefully that will continue.

Dora

So Charley loves Dora...she calls Dora "iego" I think she might be a little confused...oh well. My mom bought Charley these Dora boots over a year ago in hopes they would soon fit her....well they finally do, and they are Charley's favorite shoes. If she sees them she wants to wear them. In fact, she is wearing them with her jammies right now.
