Mighty Ball

Today was our first day of soccer!!  The boys actually really enjoyed it and did a great job.  Thi even scored a goal!  He was so excited.  The season is off to a much better start than last year.  The boys didn't really have an interest.  It's amazing what a year can do.

Date Night

Tonight was date night.  Jon and I have also decided that we are pretty boring.  We were home by 9.  I did get flowers and got to try a new pizza place.

Batter Up

This afternoon we spent some time outside with our neighbor.  The boys played baseball with her...which I think everyone enjoyed.  I'm so thankful for a wonderful neighbor who loves our children.  I'm also thankful for beautiful weather so we can finally get out of the house.

New Routine

So we've started letting the kids stay up a little later.  I'm not really sure how it's going.  They are good...but I kind of think it is just making them sleepier the next day.  They are still getting up at the same time...which is usually before 7.  I guess the plus side is that Charley takes a good nap the next day...so there's that.

Bubble Up

This afternoon Charley spent some time blowing bubbles.  She hasn't felt so great today, so I was glad she was enjoying being outside and blowing bubbles.  I'm hoping that tomorrow she will feel better.

Mother of the Year

So this morning Justus woke up and said his tummy hurt. He was acting okay...a little tired. I even took his temperature...and he didn't have one. We went to the gym, the grocery store, and then I sent him off to school. I ate lunch and then read for a bit while Charley slept. I decided around 1 to close my eyes...and fell asleep. When I woke up around 2 I had a message on my phone from the school saying that he was complaining that his tummy hurt and had a fever of 100.9. I hurriedly grabbed Charley and headed to the school to get the boys...right as they were getting on the bus. Justus has to stay home from school tomorrow as a precaution...so at least I shouldn't run into the same situation.

Bunk Mates

Today was an exciting day for the boys. They got bunkbeds...thanks to Grandpa! Jon and his dad put the beds together, and the boys are getting to enjoy them this evening. They are pretty excited. Hopefully it won't be a long night.

Home Project

Today's project was putting in a new toilet and new flooring in the bathroom. This meant we were without a potty for the day. Our very sweet neighbor let us use her restroom when needed, but I often just sent the boys out to the tree in the backyard. They loved it, of course.

Swingin' High

Tonight we hung out with our good friends the Wilson's. They have an upper deck and have hung swings below...if that makes sense. This red swing goes out from the deck over a hill...so it can be a little scary since you are so far off the ground. Charley was not allowed on this swing, Justus was scared of it, but Thi braved it a couple of times.

Rough Week

Jon's boss has been out all week, so he has been filling in. This has meant longer hours for him...which means longer hours for me. I was pretty worn down today so we ordered Imo's. It was nice not having to cook dinner.

Sick Day

Charley wasn't feeling so great this morning. I was almost positive that the chances of her NOT puking were slim....she just had that pale, mopey look to her. She never did get sick and she was back to her normal self after nap time. Maybe she just didn't get enough sleep.

Spring has Sprung

I'm so glad that Spring if finally here (not that it hasn't felt like Spring for a while now). Time for us to break out the grill for hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, chicken. I love grilling season....it gets me out of cooking!

Super Hero

While playing outside, Matthias decided to be a super hero. When I asked him to be a super hero for the camera...this is what he gave me.

Water Time

So we have been doing a little work around the house. Today we worked outside. Jon spent time powerwashing the back patio. He then took a break to spray the children. They had a blast.

Daddy-Daughter Date

This evening Jon took Charley out for a little date. They went to see The Lorax at the theater. I got her dressed up in a little sailor-like dress and hat. She looked super cute if you ask me.

Car Time

Jon is working late this evening so I decided that for dinner we would head to Burger King. It was nice and sunny out on the ride home so Thi asked for some sunglasses. Moments after this cute pic....Justus puked all over the back seat. Awesome.

Sweet Treat

Today I sold Matthias' blue race car bed. We are planning on buying some bunk beds for the boys, so the car bed had to go. Jon met the buyer and then went to DQ to get us a little treat. The kids were super excited!

My View

We spent some time outside today. While the boys played in the mounds of dirt by our house, Charley sat on my lap with my sunglasses on....upside-down of course. I like her.

Painting Machine

I have been a painting maniac. The kids and I went to The Home Depot this morning to get some more paint. I got paint for the kitchen/bathroom and Justus' room. I finished the bathroom and kitchen and started on Justus' room. The kitchen and bathroom are a really light gray. It's a lot lighter than I was going for, but I'm not in the mood to repaint it...so it's going to stay this color for now. Justus' room is a light brown/dark cream. I think it is going to look really good.

Treasure

There is still a big mess next to our house where the city put in a new water line. The kids love climbing on the dirt mounds. Today Justus was in search for buried treasure. I'm not sure if he was successful or not.

Pretty

I'm all done! It looks so much better. I'm excited to decorate now. That's the fun part.

Chaos

Today was painting day. I spent this afternoon painting our room...which was total chaos. I moved all the furniture to the middle of the room, and also removed the closet doors and some of our clothes...that would be that big pile with the sheets and towels on top. It was really cluttered, but I am all done now and it looks really good. I'm really pleased with the outcome. I will have to update when I get everything back in order.

Sleepy

Tonight we went to Eureka to hang out with some of our favorite people. By the time we left the kids were pretty wiped out from all the running around and playing they did. They all slept peacefully on the car ride home, which never happens.

Remembering

Today marks three years since our pastor from FBCM was shot. I think about that day and his wife and two daughters often. All sorts of emotions come with that. That day is still so vivid in my mind that it's hard to believe that it was three years ago. Today in remembrance of Pastor Fred I went to Aldi with all my quarters and put them in their carts. Pastor Fred often talked about the small act of leaving his quarter in his cart after shopping at Aldi was a way to bless someone else and brighten their day. So the kids and I hopped in the car this morning before Aldi opened and I put my quarters in the carts to bless their first few shoppers.

Prep Time

The time has finally come for us to paint our bedroom. I've been wanting to for a really long time. We haven't painted in there since right after we moved in. It's definitely time for an update! I taped the ceiling and took everything off the walls. Jon's job is to fill all the holes. We are planning on painting this weekend!

Windy City

Today was a really nice day...except for all the wind! I didn't realize how windy it was until I decided to take the kids to the park. I'm pretty sure Charley thought she was going to blow away....I thought she might too.

Cat in the Hat

Matthias' class has been discussing Dr. Suess the past couple of weeks. Today he came home with this. He wore it around the house and kept singing a Cat in the Hat song. It was pretty awesome!

Just the Beginning

Today Jon did some work around the house. He spent most of his time patching little holes and a couple of big holes around the house. The big holes have occurred due to faulty doorstops. One of which is in Justus' room. We have put several different ones in Justus' room, but they have all gotten broken or simply come loose. This has resulted in the door knob crashing into the door anytime the door is thrown open by one of our children...thus causing a big hole. Jon's work is almost done with the holes...next up will be my part...painting.

Date Night

Have I ever mentioned that we have the greatest neighbor ever? Because we do! She offered us some dinner tickets to the local KC this evening for a spaghetti dinner. We accepted and she watched our kids. We had a really good time and we even got a couple of errands done as well.

Cute Dress

Today Charley wore one of my tank tops around the house as a dress. I just tied the straps together in the back. I'm thinking this might be a good idea for a cover-up this summer when we are heading to the pool.

Spring

I cannot wait for Spring. We have had such a mild winter, but I am still looking forward to warmer weather, flowers and trees blooming, the pool! Bring it on!
