Nightly Ritual

It's become a nightly ritual for Jon to play Mario with the boys when he gets home. It's actually nice because it keeps the boys happy, and I get to make dinner in peace....it's really a win/win.

Thi Guy

So this evening for dinner I made the kids pizza and french fries. You would think most kids would be excited about that...but not mine. The kids had been outside with our neighbor and Matthias did not want to come in...instead he wanted to go to our neighbors house and stay over there. I finally did get him in the house, but only after our neighbor persuaded him. I love Matthias because he loves people. You know he must like you if he is turning down pizza and french fries to hang out with you.

My Big Boy

This boy gives me a run for my money on most days....but I love him so very much!

Friends Forever

Justus and Charley rarely play nice with each other. I think this is mostly because they have the same personality. Today though they walked up and down the sidewalk laughing and holding hands.

Buddies

Charley has lately wanted to sleep in Thi's bed next to him. She is a snuggle bear when she sleeps. I have taken a couple of naps with her and she just likes to be close. Anyways, I think she likes knowing that someone is close by.

Sibling Love

Today was a good day as far as siblings went. I think it was only because we found the third Wii controller and Justus really wanted three people to play. He was being so sweet to Charley trying to convince her to play. She kept saying no...but Justus just kept being nice to her....so maybe he was just in a loving mood today. It was sweet.

Waiting

The mess continued in our yard again. The good thing is they finished and moved across the street. The bad news is they had our road closed off, so I had to walk the kids down the street to catch the bus today. I'm just thankful that it was really nice out, so it wasn't really a big deal.

Looking Out My Backdoor

So the city is putting in new water mains right now. One of them happens to run along the border of our property. This huge hole and digger is right on our property line. It kind of stinks that they would start this work today since it was so nice out and there was no way I was letting the kids outside to play in the yard with all of that going on. Hopefully they won't be working back there too much longer. They also ripped out a little tree that was right on the other side of our property line as well. The kids loved playing under the tree. It was a little sad when I saw it was gone.

Much Better

Justus was in a much better mood today after the whole hair cutting fiasco. He looks so different to me with short hair!

Long Overdue

Justus was in desperate need of a haircut. The biggest problem is he hates getting his hair cut. Today was the day that it finally had to be done though. He cried for part of it, but he calmed down towards the end. When it was all done he even got a cookie out of it.

Bribery

I am not above bribing my children to be good. Today, because I was flying solo, I told them if they were good at church we would stop and get some ice cream. I got good reports from all of their Sunday school teachers....Justus even participated in worship time, which NEVER happens. Guess he really wanted some ice cream!

Back It Up

This is how my princess likes to watch tv. We are constantly telling her to "back up, baby" or "Charley, watch out so that everyone can see". I hope standing that close doesn't effect her eyesight.

Brothers

I love how much fun these boys have together.

A New Thi-Guy

The time had come for Matthias to get a haircut. Justus is in need of one also, but he throws a huge fit, so I'm saving his for when Jonathan starts to feel better.

Cupcake

A very sweet friend dropped off some cupcakes for our sick family. I love having wonderful friends!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day has been pretty low-key today. The boys had a great time at school and dumped out their bags as soon as they got home from school to examine all their Valentine's Day goodies. As far as the rest of the family goes....Jonathan stayed home sick from work. Charley went to the doctor...she's okay just a fever a runny nose. Jonathan also went to the doctor this evening and was diagnosed with the flu. He is staying home the rest of the week because the doctor told him he would be contagious for the next few days. I'm hoping my Valentine's Day gift is not the flu.

Sick House

This morning not only were we not fever free....4 out of 5 people in our family aren't feeling well. It started with Thi and Charley, but by the end of the day Jon and I were both feeling pretty icky. I cannot wait for this sickness to run it's course and move on.

Right on Schedule

This morning Thi woke up with a fever. Hoping everyone wakes up fever free tomorrow!

Never Ending

It seems that when one child gets better another gets sick in our house. Charley is all better, but last night Justus developed a slight fever. I gave him Tylenol/Motrin which made him feel much better. He then slept until 930 this morning, which never happens. I once again gave him medicine which got rid of the fever, but now it's back.

Encouragement

I've been having a lot of issues with being motivated lately. For those of you who don't know I take medication for anxiety/depression. I recently had to switch medications and my new medication has caused a few side effects including: weight gain, occasional night sweats, trouble sleeping, and a few others. It's really hard not to get discouraged at times, so before heading to the gym I wrote "don't give up" on my wrist as a reminder to myself that this is just a season in life. This too shall pass...right?

Blue Beard

Justus came home with a stamp on his hand...and it somehow got transferred to his chin.

Snow Bunnies

We got a little snow last night...and I do mean little. It was gone by the afternoon. That didn't stop the kids excitement this morning that there was snow on the ground.

Lazy Day

For the past two days Jonathan has been home sick. He has a pretty bad sinus infection. He actually went to the doctor yesterday because he had so much pressure behind his eyes. He got an antibiotic and feels much better now. Today was mostly spent relaxing and playing Mario.

Valentine

The boys got their valentines today. Matthias worked on his for a little while before and after school. It takes a while for him to write his name, but he is doing a great job. He really wanted to take them to school today, but he didn't get them all done. He did insist on taking the teacher card to his teacher today though....he was really excited to give it to her.

Super Bowl

After having children, Jon and I have given up trying to go to Super Bowl parties. It's usually pretty chaotic wrangling our three kids. So we are watching the game at home. The boys are playing Mario and Charley is running around with "balloonies". Low-key is sometimes relaxing.

Party Time

This afternoon we got to celebrate one of the kids' friend's birthday. The party was football themed with lots of yummy game day type food. The kids had a great time eating and playing games. They were definitely wound up when we got home!

Sweet Moment

Occasionally our children have sweet moments together. They decided to look at pictures on the computer together...and they all loved it.

Big Girl!

So the time has come for Charley to transition to a toddler bed. We have been letting her play with Thi before putting her to bed for a while now, and she has done really well with that...and typically falls asleep on the floor anyways. So far tonight has gone pretty well.
