Mimi's House

Justus had a half day today and Thi didn't have school.  I decided today would be a good day to go visit Mimi and Papa.  The kids love going to Mimi's.  She always has fun stuff to play with and she has a fenced in yard, so they can pretty much go in and out of the house whenever they want.  The kids had fun hanging with Mimi and Papa and I got to see my BFF from high school.  I think we all had a good time, and the kids were nice and tired by the time we got home.

Cute Critters

Our neighbor is having surgery on Thursday.  She asked if she could dye eggs with the kids this evening since she will be in the hospital on Easter.  Of course the kids had fun and Ms. Marcia also got them each a little Easter gift...bubbles and these super cute hats!  The kids all love them, and I think they are so cute in them.  Thanks Ms. Marcia!!

So Long Tooth #2

Justus' second tooth has been loose FOR.EV.ER.  Seriously forever.  It was loose when his last tooth fell out....in December.  This evening it finally  lost it's battle to hang on.  So long tooth #2!

Snow Cream

So we ended up getting hit by a snow storm.  Hello Spring?  So far we probably have about 5-6 inches.  Of course the kids wanted to go play out in all the snow.  I don't blame them.  This is probably the most snow we have gotten in one day since they were born. Poor Charley could barely walk in the snow since it was so deep.  Once the kids came in I decided to make them Snow Cream.  It was very yummy and the kids loved it!

Date Night

Tonight Jon and I went on a little date.  Our neighbor and friend will be having surgery next week, so she wanted us to go out since she wouldn't be able to watch our kids for a while since she will be recovering.  Jon and I did a little shopping and went out to dinner.  It was a pretty good night.

Long Day

Today has kind of been blur.  I'm not really sure where all of it went.  Jon's been working late nights due to an associate quitting, so it makes for long days at home.  I am usually tucking this sweet girl in by myself.  She doesn't seem to mind though.

Three Little Boxes

Jonathan has brought home our first three boxes to pack.  They sit in our room waiting for me to fill.  I'm sure I will get motivated to fill them at some point.  What do I even put in them?  That's what I ask myself when I look at them.  Maybe once I figure out the answer I will be able to start packing.

5 Years Later

Five years ago I discovered Justus climbing up this dresser using the handles as little steps.  I took the handles off immediately because I was scared my 18 month old would climb up and fall off and get really hurt.  Well today was the day I finally put the handles back on the dresser.  I guess I'm no longer scared of the kids climbing up and falling off.  This also makes opening the drawers a lot easier!

All Good Things

Justus had quite the streak going.  He brings this folder home everyday.  Check marks are bad.  Until today he hadn't gotten a check mark in over 3 weeks!  This is by far the longest he has ever gone without getting a check mark....the longest all school year actually.  I was a little bummed when I opened his folder after school to find this check mark waiting for me.

St. Patty's Day

We we didn't do much to celebrate St. Patrick's Day...although I did wear green.  I did go to Old Navy and spent the last of my Christmas gift card.  I'll consider it a pretty good way to spend St. Patty's Day.

Super Princess

Today one of the girls in Charley's dance class had a birthday party.  The theme was "Superheroes".  Everyone was supposed to come dressed as a superhero.  I went to the store and bought Charley this little mask and cape.  She said she was Super Princess.  I must admit she was the cutest superhero I have ever seen.

Rough Day

Charly had a rough day outside.  It was so beautiful outside.  First she came in with ripped up jeans and had scraped her knee.  Not too bad, but it was bleeding.  Then a little while later she fell again and scraped the same knee and the palm of her hand.    I decided it was a good time for her to come in and have a little snack.

Reflections

I started this book/devotional this evening.  As some of you may know our pastor was killed four years ago in the middle of his sermon.  His wife has since then started a ministry, Grace and Hope Ministries, for people who are dealing with loss and tragedy.  Now she has come out with this book which is a little bit book, a little bit devotional. So far it is definitely an encouraging book.

Sleeping Beauty

Jon worked late this evening.  Nights when he works late typically go one of two ways....peacefully or complete chaos.  This evening was actually pretty peacefully.  Everyone went to their rooms when they were supposed to and this little girl actually fell asleep early.

Ready for Spring

We are so ready for Spring.  Today the kids played in the backyard.  We are all looking forward to warmer weather.  And as you can see...Justus is feeling much better today.

Sick Day

This morning Justus woke up extra sleepy.  When I woke him up he said, "Mom, it's the middle of the night."  I felt the same way, but he got up and out of bed.  He was very tired.  Passed on breakfast and then off we went to the bus stop.  At around noon I got a call from the school saying that Justus wasn't feeling very tired and not being himself.  The nurse said he didn't have a temperature, but said he was tired and wouldn't eat lunch and just wanted to rest his head on the table.  I went up to the school to pick him up.  We made it one step out the door before he threw up.  Thankfully we made it home without any incidences in the car.  He got sick one more time, and then fell asleep.  When he got up he was feeling much better.  No school for this boy tomorrow, but hopefully he will wake up feeling much better.

Sleepy Sunday

The first couple of days after time change are always a little tiring.  It's 8:25 p.m. and I am heading to bed.  Because of the time change it actually feels like 7:25....but everyone in the house is so sleepy.  Hopefully the next couple of days will get better...and we will all feel better rested.

Fun Night

This evening we went to our friends' house.  When we go there the kids always have such a great time.  Justus was so wiped out when we got home.  I couldn't even get him to wake up once we had pulled into the driveway.  Jonathan had to carry him because he is getting to heavy for me.  Hopefully we will sleep in tomorrow with the time change.

Long Day

The boys came home from school today and collapsed on the chair.  I guess they had a long week.  Matthias was wiped out!

Gross

This is what the floor of our van looked like...until this afternoon when I decided it was time I cleaned it all out.  It took me an hour and a half to move the seats, get all the debris, and vacuum the van.  Yuck!  But it is clean now!

Hazard

Today we had a little mishap with a bad fuse.  Thank goodness it didn't cause us any problems other than being without power in the living room and kitchen for a couple of hours.  We got the problem resolved.  It was only the wrong kind of fuse, so it was a quick fix.

McTeacher's Night

This evening the local McDonalds had a McTeacher's Night.  The school sends home flyers saying when certain teachers will be at the McDonalds, and you can go in and eat and some of the profits will go to your school district.  Justus' teacher was planning on being there from 4-5 p.m.  I wasn't too excited because that meant I would have to go by myself with all three kids.  The kids were awesome though, and ate all of their happy meals. Justus even got to see a couple of his friends.  We had a good time.

Homework

Matthias brought home this little homework page last week.  We started it on March 1st.  He is supposed to graph the weather for a week, and then bring it in to class.  He has been so excited to do this every day.  He typically marks it before I even remember.  This morning while in the car I asked him what the weather was like.  He said cloudy.  I said, "Yep, we will have to mark it on your graph when we get home."  His response (given with a slight attitude):  Mom, I already did.

Tea Party

 

We really haven't done too much today.  Sundays are usually that way.  This evening, Charley decided to host a tea party in her mess of a room.  She was pretty excited to serve tea to her dad and boys.

Lego Jr.

Today has been pretty uneventful.  Charley had dance class.  We went to the gym.  The exciting part of the day was when the boys Lego Jr. Magazine came in the mail.  They get pretty excited when it comes.  It is free, so that's pretty exciting for me.

In Like a Lion

A sick lion that is.  Thi started off March by getting sick.  He crawled into bed with me after Jonathan left for work and told me he was sick.  He woke me up about 45 minutes later saying he was going to get sick and ran off to the bathroom.  He got sick one more time, and then he was pretty much back to normal.  By this evening he was running around like a wild child, so I'm pretty sure he is feeling better.

Today's the Day

Today is the day we sold our house!  We have pretty much kept the news to ourselves since it was kind of a rough process, and we weren't really sure if we were actually going to sell our house.  We finally did make it to closing though, and we are pretty excited to be done with everything.  We are actually renting the house from the new owners until the end of the school year, so it doesn't seem real yet.  We are planning on moving closer to Jon's work once school is out.  We will rent for a year or two and then buy once I go back to work when Charley starts Kindergarten.

Big Girl

I have been having Charley work in a little Pre-K workbook lately.  She has been working on tracing shapes.  Today I decided to see if she could trace her name.  She did a great job.  I did the "h" to show her what I wanted her to do, but other than that she did the rest.  I was pretty proud.

Rockstar

This morning I was awaken by Matthias telling me that Justus had colored all over himself and all over Matthias.  Matthias told me Justus wanted them to be rockstars.  I guess that means that rockstars have facial hair, lots of skin coloring, and wear every pair of underwear they own all at once.  A few minutes after this I also found that Justus had defaced Matthias school picture complete with blacked out teeth and angry bird eyebrows.  We had a serious talk about coloring on Mommy's pictures while I was giving him a bath and scrubbing the marker off of him before school.

My Children

I'm pretty sure my children have issues with clothes.  This is how I find them most of the time.  I promise I get them dressed in the morning, but by the end of the day...they all look like this.  Hopefully they grow out of this phase.

Luigi Wins

It's been a pretty busy weekend.  Even though today was less busy than yesterday I still feel like we have been on-the-go quite a bit.  I was kind of glad to sit down and relax this evening.  The kids decided to put on their old costumes.  He is still a pretty awesome Luigi! 

Keeping Busy

Today has been a pretty busy day.  This morning Charley had dance class.  We decided Saturday morning class worked best for us since the class is smaller and doesn't require Jon to leave early from work.  After dance class we headed to the gym.  Then lunch and naptime.  And then I ran some errands.  The evening was nice since we didn't have anything to do...except color, of course.

Snow Day #2

Another snow day.  At least today the kids were able to play in the snow to burn off some energy.  They had fun playing outside, but I was glad when they came back in to warm up.

Snow Day

Tomorrow is a snow day at school.  I told the kids....and they were pretty excited.  Then Justus made this face.  Not sure what that means.  And see that on the window?  That's ice.  Hope it doesn't get too bad.

Petting Zoo

One of the local High Schools is holding a petting zoo for young children this week.  Matthias' class got to go this afternoon.  The animals have all been raised by the 4H students.  They had quite a few including: a horse, a calf, a piglet, a bunny, two lambs, and a few others.  Matthias and Charley are checking out some fish in this picture.  The both said their favorite part was getting to pet the baby chicks.

Tiny Dancer

Tonight Charley attended her first dance class.  It was the cutest thing ever!  She loved every minute.  I loved it too.  I loved that she got to play with other girls her age...something she doesn't get at home.  I'm definitely excited for her to do more "girl" things.  She has another class on Saturday morning....then we have to decide if Tuesday night or Saturday morning works best for Charley.

Holiday

The kids had the day off school...Jon unfortunately had to go into work.  He had a bunch of new accounts he had to get caught up on.  Anyways...when he got home the kids were ready to play....he however, had other plans.

My Little Beau

Matthias found this bowtie a while back in our closet.  I'm not sure why we even have it.  But Matthias has been really wanting to wear it since he found it.  This morning I decided to get this shirt out...which had to be ironed, ick.  He absolutely loved wearing the bowtie.  He kept saying how awesome he looked in his bowtie.  And, I really must admit...this outfit made me want to go out and buy every bowtie I could find because I thought he looked so cute.

Visitors

So today Sarah came down from Springfield.  She had her friend with her, and his six year old daughter.  The kids had so much fun having another kid in the house.  Justus especially liked having someone his age to play with.  We hung out at our house and then we went to Monkey Joe's.  It was a pretty long day for everyone, and I'm hoping the kids fall asleep quickly this evening!

That Kind of Day

Today was a half day of school for Justus and no school for Matthias.  It definitely makes for a longer day when the kids are home from school.  I am looking forward to summer when we can get outside and play, swim, go to the park, etc.  But since it was a long day...and Jonathan was a little late in getting home...it was a pizza kind of night.  I happen to love Domino's pizza...and they have a $5.99 deal if you order 2 or more.  It was just what was needed.

Happy Valentine's Day

So Jon and I didn't exchange gifts this year, but I decided to make one of his favorite meals.  Lasagna!  I rarely make it because it just has a lot of steps...and who has time for that?  I decided that since it was Valentine's Day I would deal with the long process.  I'm pretty sure it was worth it!

Boys vs. Girls

I love watching Charley and Matthias play together.  The difference...Charley wants to have a tea party with her princesses in her castle...Matthias wants to bust up the party with his Legomen and their weapons.

Bringing up Girls

I have started reading this book.  I am kind of naive about raising a little girl.  This book is making me aware of the kind of things that can happen in my sweet girl's life.  It's kind of scary, and I want to stop reading this book because I don't want to have to think about raising my girl in this sometimes mean world...but I am going to press on because I need to.

Bedtime

Getting these boys to bed can be quite the ordeal.  And when they are this cute it makes it even harder.

Valentine's

Today the boys got to pick out their Valentine's.  I really wanted to make something...like heart-shaped crayons or something....but I figured they wouldn't be as excited about that.  Matthias picked out Lego Star Wars and Justus picked out Ninja Turtles.  He worked on writing them out tonight.  It went much better than last year.  He breezed through them this year....last year we had to span it out over several nights. 

Valentine's

Today Justus decorated his Valentine's bag for school.  I keep forgetting that Valentine's Day is this week! We are headed to the store tomorrow so the boys can pick out Valentine's to hand out to their friends.  I always love seeing what they decide on for things like this.  Their choices always seem very random to me, but they are always excited about them.

MDA

So Jon gets e-mails at work to attend different charity events that Edward Jones has sponsered.  We decided to sign-up for this one....the Muscle Team Bash, which supports the Muscular Distrophy Association.  It was pretty fun.  It was in the city, they had a band, silent auction, and dinner.  We left after dinner since the only thing after that was a live auction and dancing.  We couldn't afford any of the stuff in the silent auction...so somehow I doubt we would have been able to afford anything in the live auction.  It was a good time though.

Wiped Out

 

This evening a little before 7 I went to the boys room to check on the kids.  They were back there playing.  When I walked in Thi was out for the count.  I assume he was just extra tired after being sick yesterday.  Even though it was dinner time I decided not to wake him.  I figured he really needed the sleep.

Sick Day

This morning Thi-guy woke up not feeling so well.  He came and crawled into bed with me and said he was sick.  He had a runny nose and a pretty icky cough...but nothing else.  Not long after he crawled into bed though he was up getting  sick.  Poor little guy.  He got sick then I gave him a bath to clean him up, and then he was pretty much back to normal.

Cars

This is some of my Lego progress.  I decided to put together some of our Cars sets...(1) we have duplicates of a couple of the sets, and (2) there are no Lego men in these sets.  I haven't really decided what to do about our Lego man situation.  See that little bucket in the bottom corner?  It's FULL of Lego men and their pieces.  The hard part is Matthias plays with them everyday...and not the same ones either.  He makes new creations all the time.  I don't know if I'll have the heart to take many away from him.  I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
